Kahn wins computer game battle

HAMBURG – German captain Oliver Kahn has won a court battle against the producers of the computer game ‘FIFA 2002’.

A court in Hamburg confirmed an early ruling that the game, which is produced by Electronic Arts, could no longer be sold as it infringed on Kahn’s personal rights.

The German goalkeeper’s name and image is used in the game without his permission and Kahn, who has been a regular for Germany and his club Bayern Munich for many years, is probably the world’s most recognizable goalkeeper.

He sued EA Sports for using his name and likeness and claimed EUR 724,000 in damages and demanded that the game no longer be sold.
