TEL AVIV – German Interior Minister Otto Schily hailed Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as a “very courageous step” during a meeting Thursday in Tel Aviv with Israeli deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres.
Schily is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon during his several-day visit to Israel.
During his stay the Berlin minister will participate in the 150th anniversary celebrations of the German Association of the Holy Land and attend an exhibition in Jerusalem featuring the work of German writer Jurgen Serke.
