LIMASSOL – The German national team will play Iran in a friendly in Teheran on 9 October, German football federation (DFB) president, Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, confirmed Wednesday.

“Not all questions have been answered but it can be taken that we will play there,” the 71-year-old said in the Cypriot town of Limassol where he is attending a UEFA Executive Committee meeting.

Mayer-Vorfelder said he expected the game in Teheran to be a sell out with around 100,000 fans expected. Ticket prices will be in the region of two dollars with a percentage of the proceeds going to help the thousands of victims of last December’s earthquake in the Iranian city of Bam.
