PRAGUE – The bid by Dolly Buster, a prominent German porn star, as a candidate for the European parliament has divided politicians in her native Czech Republic.
The candidacy of Czech-born Katerina Bochnickova – Dolly Buster – is “a very crude and facetious joke”, Czech parliament deputy Milada Emmerova told the Deniky Bohemia newspaper. “Unfortunately, bribery can accomplish a lot,” she added.
But deputy Ivan Langer said he welcomed “the diversity in what is otherwise a boring ballot”. And deputy Alena Paralova said she was pleased that “we have the freedom to have a European parliament candidate who is a little colourful”.
Bochnickova, 34, planned formally to launch her campaign as an independent candidate Thursday in the Ostrava area. She was scheduled to visit a mining museum and greet coal miners after descending into an underground shaft.
Bochnickova recently returned to her native Czech Republic to run for office after spending most of her life in Germany, where she made porn movies with silicon-enhanced breasts.
She is one of 13 declared candidates for the parliamentary election slated for June.
The Czech Republic will have 24 seats in parliament after the country joins the European Union with nine other enlargement candidates in May.
