German police crack paedophile ring

HANOVER – German police this week carried out raids on an international paedophile ring operating in Germany and other European countries.

Police searched the homes of 60 suspects in 11 German states, seizing computers, computer data, magazines and photographs, police in Hanover said.

Another 41 suspects were investigated in other countries including Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and Britain.

Three people were arrested in Austria including a 38-year-old man from Linz who is believed to have initiated the ring which exchanged pornographic images of children over the Internet, police said.
