Daimler to launch ‘Dodge’ in Europe

16 December 2003

HAMBURG – DaimlerChrysler plans to launch the Chrysler division’s popular Dodge brand in Europe next year, the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper reported Tuesday, citing industry sources.

The report said the introduction of the Dodge is foreseen in the spring of 2004 under plans by the Chrysler division to go more international. The plans for the Dodge were agreed on last week.

FTD said the exact launch date, the prices and the marketing campaign strategy will be unveiled either at the Detroit car show in early January or at the Geneva motor show in March.

Chrysler officials said they would comment on the division’s possible expansion aims at a later point, the paper said.

The Dodge brand is popular in the US market, with sales in 2002 totalling 1.26 million. It is above all known for its pickup truck the Durango.
