DUNKERQUE – Customs agents in the northern French border port of Dunkerque have seized more than 852,000 tablets of the synthetic drug ecstasy, the largest such haul ever in the country, Minister of Customs Supervision Alain Lambert said.

The drugs were discovered hidden in an articulated lorry originating in Germany and on its way to Britain by ferry.

Along with the ecstasy, a drug popular in discos, agents also seized more than 116 kilos of the illegal stimulant amphetamine sulphate as well as smaller amounts of amphetamine.
