Unemployment increases in Belgium

The increase concerns all regions: 13,439 people were seeking work in Flanders, 8,993 in the Walloon region and 4,512 in the greater-Brussels region, according the figures published by the ONE, the National Employment Office.  

Total unemployment is still lower then last year’s annual average. But this trend could undermine the efforts made to combat unemployment in recent years. 

As is often the case, people under the age of 25 and the long-term unemployed suffer the most from this increase in unemployment
