Stamps on sale in supermarkets

BRUSSELS – The Belgian post office has begun offering services at places like shops, supermarkets, banks, and libraries.

The scheme, currently a pilot project in Namur and Mechelen, came into force on Monday and forms part of an push to decentralise the way the post office operates.

Twelve sites have been chosen for a test which will run until March.

The new ‘postal points’ will sell stamps, send letters and parcels, send recorded deliveries, tax stamps, accept some bill payments and issue some information on postal services.
