24 May 2007

MOL – The search for a man in his seventies continues in the town of Mol in Kempen this morning. Frans Liekens disappeared without a trace from a nursing home in Mol in March. Searches for the man have not turned up anything. A total of 50 people are involved in the action today.

The search started at about 9 am and is focused mainly on an area stretching from the centre of town towards the swampy green area near the river Nete.

The emergency services say there have not been any concrete clues about what happened to the man.

The police in Mol have received reinforcement from the federal police. The missing persons unit and a diving team from the fire brigade are at the site. A helicopter and sniffer dogs are also being deployed.
