Nurse arrested in doping case

12 June 2007

BRUSSELS – A 39-year-old nurse from La Louvière has been arrested in the investigation into doping in the Belgian cycling world. La Dernière Heure reported this on Tuesday.

The nurse works at the oncology department at the Central Hospital of Jolimont. Studies have shown that products currently being used to treat cancer patients have been stolen from hospitals and passed on to the cycling world.

It is still unclear whether the doping agents were taken from the medicine storage area at Jolimont. The French language newspaper also reports that the nurse’s partner is being investigated.
