Investigators reconstruct bomb suspect’s walk to Schaarbeek

Prosecutors have used CCTV footage to reconstruct the suspect’s journey from Zaventem to Schaarbeek in Brussels where he was seen on the Dailly Square. Investigators are looking for eye witnesses who saw him after he turned into the Brabançonnelaan and reached the intersection with the Notelaarsstraat.

The suspect, ‘Man in White’ or ‘Guy with the hat’, is seen leaving the airport building following the blasts in the departure hall via the Sheraton Hotel and heading for the centre of Zaventem. He walked along the Grote Daalstraat to the Leuvensesteenweg that he reached at 8:50. En route he disposed of his raincoat that has not yet been found.

The suspect continued along the Leuvensesteenweg to the Meiserplein in Schaarbeek. Here he was filmed by surveillance cameras at 9:42. He walked on along the Leuvensesteenweg to the Dailly Square. He then turned into the Brabançonnelaan and reached the intersection with the Notelaarsstraat at 9:50. Here the trail runs cold.

Police have released detailed pictures of the suspect’s clothes.
