Golden girls welcomed home

Hundreds of fans welcomed home on Monday night Belgian athletes at Zaventem Airport after the successful European Championships in Goteborg. Fans were carrying flags and banners, especially in praise of golden girls Kim Gevaert and Tia Hellebaut. More celebratory events are planned in coming days. Hellebaut won the women’s high jump competition, while Gevaert won the 100m and 200m spring double.

One in five priests has girlfriend

One on five priests in Belgium has a secret relationship with a woman. The claim was made by the associations Magdala and Philothea, which gather the girlfriends of priests together. But the spokesman for Cardinal Danneels did not deny the phenomenon, but said there are no available figures, newspaper ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ reported.

Fatal accident on E19

One person was killed and four others injured when a French-registered vehicle collided with a guard rail and rolled over on the E19 motorway on Monday night. One of the injured victims is in a critical condition.
