Zaventem-Paris rail link open

15 December 2003

BRUSSELS – The high speed Paris to Brussels Airport rail link saw its first passengers when the SN Brussels Airlines chartered Thalys train arrived from Paris Nord Monday morning.

The Belgian airline, which was created from the ashes of flag carrier Sabena, is following an international trend to cover relatively short distances by train instead of air.

SN Brussels consequently cancelled all its flights to Paris.

The airline has an extensive African network and wants to increase its number of French passengers on its planes, in direct competition with French carrier Air France.
