BRUSSELS — An 18-year-old man was caught red-handed on Wednesday filming a woman and her daughter as they changed clothes in the open-air swimming pool in Hemiksem.
The young man used a digital camera with an inbuilt video recorder to film a 32-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter as they changed clothes in the pool’s dressing rooms.
Swimming pool staff spotted the man and contacted police. The woman lodged a complaint against the man and he was arrested. The suspect was to appear in court on Thursday.
Police searched the man’s Hemiksem house and found similar images on his computer. The Computer Crime Unit is now examining the images as part of further investigations.
It is not yet known how many photos were found and how many victims were photographed or filmed. It is also unclear whether the man passed the images onto other people.
The man has confessed he made the images “out of interest”, newspaper ‘De Standaard’ reported. He was arrested on charges of “indecent assault of a youth younger than 16 and an adult”.
