ANTWERP – Production at Opel in Antwerp will resume on Sunday night at 10 pm. This emerged on Thursday after a meeting between trade unions and the management of GM Europe.
Operations are set to start up again after a narrow majority of the workers (50.39 percent) voted in favour of ending the strike during a referendum this morning.
Turnout for the referendum was very high. 4,800 workers – 90 percent of the personnel according to the unions – cast their vote.
Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt said he was pleased with the outcome of the referendum.
