BRUSSELS — In Sint-Pieters-Leeuw this morning a robbery took place at a post-office on the Bergensesteenweg. The gangsters opened fire on a police car. One police agent was wounded. The total damages are still unknown, De Standaard writes.
“Four gangsters got inside the post-office through the roof. An employee at the post-office managed to call the police, who arrived immediately”, Mayor of Sint-Pieters-Leeuw Lieve Vanlinthout said.
The robbers escaped in a black Audi carrying two linen bags, containing possibly both money and letters, Vanlinthout said.
Two hours later another robbery attempt occurred on the Brusselsesteenweg in Asse, at a Centea Bank, possibly involving the same robbers.
This time two robbers tried to force the bank’s personnel to open the safe, but the latter refused to follow the orders and set off the alarm. The robbers escaped. No one was wounded.
All the robbers remain at large
