26/06/11 – On Saturday, 267 Belgians dressed up as smurfs gathered at the Kinepolis cinema complex in Brussels. Among them was Vronique Culliford, the daughter of Peyo, the comic strip author who created the smurfs in 1958 and who died in 1992. 25 June was Peyo’s birthday. For that occasion, it was Global Smurfs Day on Saturday.
