BRUSSELS – Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt has congratulated Nicolas Sarkozy for his victory in the French presidential election, according to a spokesperson for the prime minister.
Verhofstadt wished Sarkozy all the best in his new position. He also invited him to visit Belgium and its European institutions.
The prime minister told Sarkozy that he hoped the good cooperation between Belgium and France would continue, particularly their close ties in the EU.
