Two Belgians died Saturday after their helicopter crashed in northern France, police said.

The Robinson R44 helicopter that took off from a private property in Willebroek, Belgium on Saturday morning was headed for Spain, police said.

It crashed in a field at Luzoir, a small village in the Aisne region, killing the pilot, a 52-year-old real estate agent who also owned the helicopter and a 32-year-old passenger.

Local officials said the cause of the crash would be investigated.
