Train service on schedule today

17 April 2007

BRUSSELS – Train service has returned to normal after yesterday’s strike by conductors.

All train carriages were returned to depots last night and conductors are at work once again today, says Guido Ardeel, spokesperson for rail infrastructure manager Infrabel. There are no longer any local problems, so service is running according to schedule, he says.

Train workers based at the Brussel-Zuid station went on strike on Monday to protest against aggression towards train conductors. This weekend four conductors were assaulted.

Workers based at other stations joined the strike, causing delays for travellers throughout the day yesterday.
