Thousands fined despite respecting speed limit

Digital road signs indicated a maximum speed of 100 kilometres per hour, but a software problem activated speed cameras as from 70 km/h.

Many motorists got caught, but nobody will receive a fine, explains Wim Redig of the federal police: “People can rest assured. All those that were found speeding unjustly, will not be fined.”

This is good news for all motorists that were caught speeding, and also for those that exceeded the speed limit of 100 km/h. “We are talking about thousands of drivers. It would be an immense job to filter them out. For this once, those that actually did go too fast, will escape.”
