Thieving policewoman arrested

21 February 2005

BRUSSELS – A 24-year-old policewoman suspected of being in a gang which broke into lorries has been arrested in Flanders.

La Derniere Heure reported that the woman, her brother, her sister-in-law and another man were arrested last week in a car park on the E17 motorway at Gentbrugge.

They were found in possession of a stolen DVD player.

For several months, the police had been looking for the criminals behind a string of thefts from lorries parked in motorway service stations.

The thieves had been cutting open lorries and taking the goods inside which the drivers were transporting.
