Teenager locked up after stabbing

BRUSSELS – The 17-year-old youth who stabbed a 20-year-old man in Lokeren on Wednesday has been placed in a secure institution by the Dendermonde juvenile court. The public prosecution department in Dendermonde reported this today.

The two young men, Lokeren residents of ethnic background, got into a fight near the Molenstraat on Wednesday afternoon. The 17-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed the 20-year-old. The victim was seriously injured and had to be operated on.

The 17-year-old was also taken to hospital later. He had suffered minor injuries from fights with various people, following on the stabbing incident earlier.
