19 November 2004

BRUSSELS – A 19-year-old suspected of starting a fire at a day centre for disabled people was freed from police custody on Friday.

The woman from Bastogne was arrested on Tuesday after investigations into a string of arson attacks in her home town. She was being held at Namur prison on three charges and was believed to have been part of a gang, which started the fire at Andage on November 3.

She has always denied the offences.

On Friday morning, Neufchateau court ordered she be released in the afternoon.

Her boyfriend is still being held, along with two other minors, at a detention centre in Everberg. He has confessed to starting the fire.
