Stacy and Nathalie remembered

LIEGE – Thierry Lemmens, the father of 7-year-old Stacy who disappeared on 9 June last year with her stepsister Nathalie Mahy, led a motorcycle ride in memory of the girls in Liege on Saturday. A hundred motorcycle enthusiasts took part.

The ride passed by the prison in Lantin, where the man suspected of murdering the two girls, Abdallah Ait Oud, is being held. He continues to deny the allegations.

“We rode by the prison so that he can hear that we haven’t forgotten about him. He is still presumed innocent, but there is a great deal of evidence against him. The court is doing its work, that is true, but we still think that there are too many repeat offenders. It is time for that to stop. Our girls, and other children, have paid the price so that Justice should now open its eyes,” Lemmens said.

He said the motorcycle ride was “not a threat” but the “cry of desperation from a father.”

The procession ended at the cemetery of Paifves, where Stacy is buried. Balloons were released in the neighbourhood of Saint-Léonard, where the girls disappeared a year ago.
