BRUSSELS – The employees of the Movement against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Xenophobia (MRAX) are still locked in a dispute with management following the dismissal of their colleague Luc Malghem on 31 January.

Disgruntled staff have denounced “the absence of dialogue and transparency between management and employees”.

They hope to find a speedy solution to what they perceive as “numerous dysfunctions” that threaten the group’s chances of gaining asbl status.

Unfortunately, the reinstatement of their former colleague, Malghem, is said to be inconceivable, according to management.

“Luc Malghem was laid off because of a total breakdown in confidence with his employer,” MRAX deputy manager Gino Ebwele said.

“Moreover, his replacement contract finished at the end of March.”

A swift end to the conflict seemed unlikely on Wednesday, with management claiming “a climate of mistrust” and the “refusal of the permanent employees to enter dialogue”.
