Spielberg and Jackson to film Tintin

16 May 2007

BRUSSELS – Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are joining forces to film the comic book stories of Tintin.

Film industry magazine Variety has announced this. The two filmmakers will each make at least one of the three Tintin films planned. It is not yet known who will direct the third.

It was announced in March already that Spielberg’s film studio Dreamworks was working on preproduction for one of the films.

Studios Hergé, which owns the comic strips, said at the time that the first film would be in cinemas in two years’ time.

Spielberg has been trying to get the film rights to the Tintin series for 25 years. He was given the green light just last year.
