South-West Flanders hit by thunder storm

This morning South_West Flanders was hit by a severe thunderstorm. The downpour started in the region around Ieper at 7.00 a.m.. Watou was also affected by torrential rain. Streets and cellars got flooded.

Poperinge too was affected by flooding; the industrial estate in particular was badly hit by the thunder storm. On several occasions the fire brigade was called out because of lightning bolts.

Meanwhile the thunder storm is proceeding towards the centre of the country. The Gand festival has also been hit by heavy rain storms.
