Serve the City is a movement of volunteers around the world connecting with local opportunities to serve in our cities. Many people want to get involved in the community and help in some way, but it’s hard to know where to start or if the simple things we might do would make a difference. Serve the City organises events where volunteers can start by showing kindness in practical ways to people in need, believing that many people doing small things together can make a big difference.
Serve the City began in Brussels, Belgium in 2005 and will be in 40 cities around the world in 2009. The highlight of the Serve the City Brussels year is the summer project. Dates for 2009 are 27 June – 4 July.
Sign up to serve in Brussels at www.servethecity.be. The event begins with an Orientation for all volunteers Saturday 27 June 9:30 at EPEE, rue de l’Epee 8 1000 Brussels (next to Havana) and concludes with a city-wide Festival Saturday 4 July 14:00-22:00 at Place Poelaert. Projects take place Monday-Friday with all volunteers beginning the day together 9:30 at EPEE.
