Semi-detached answer for Cast Away Hanks

3 December 2004

BRUSSELS – Bastogne residents have bombarded the organisers of the Battle of the Bulge commemorations with offers to lodge Hollywood star Tom Hanks.

An appeal was launched on Thursday to find the Cast Away actor accommodation for his visit to the Belgian Ardennes on 15-19 December.

According to La Libre, the plight of the millionaire actor was revealed when an American war veteran asked an organiser to help find beds for 25 soldiers who fought the Nazis 60 years ago.

The Belgian told the veteran that all the available accommodation had already been booked. The veteran then divulged that they would probably be bringing Hanks with them.

From the many offers, organisers have finally picked two semi-detached houses to lodge the veterans and their famous travel companion.

It’s not the first time Hanks will visit the Ardennes: in 1999 he was there when he and Steven Spielberg were making the TV series Band of Brothers about the Battle of the Bulge.
