A milestone event in the Embassy of Ireland First World War Commemoration Programme took place in the historic Studio 4 in Flagey on Thursday 23 October 2014. This was the second major event in the Irish Embassy First World War Commemoration Programme to be sponsored by BNP Paribas Fortis.
The evening centred on an address by renowned Irish radio and television presenter Gay Byrne, and the Belgian premiere of his documentary My Father’s War which follows him on a personal journey of discovery as he pieces together his father’s experiences during the First World War. Acclaimed Irish musicians Tracey McRory and Richard Laird, who have been composing and performing music around the theme of World War One for many years, provided musical interludes. The presentation, music and screening was followed by a reception for all guests in Flagey.
