27 May 2005

BRUSSELS – An 11-year-old girl was in a coma after a sports outing organised by her school, it was reported Friday.

The girl had been participating in a ‘sports day’ in the Belgian town of Chimay along with fellow students from her school in Brussels’ Molenbeek-Saint-Jean commune.

She was injured during an activity which involved students descending a hill with the help of a cable attached between a car and a van.

The student fell onto the van during the exercise and had to be taken to hospital.

Her family plans to file a complaint.
