BRUSSELS – In line with the long-established Belgian tradition of building a holiday ‘bridge’ between a weekend and an official mid-week day off, Belgian train operator SNCB/NMBS has announced it will be running a reduced service this Friday.
Thursday is the annual Ascension Day holiday in Belgium and tens of thousands of workers are set to extend their official one-day break by taking Friday off as well.
In line with this anticipated fall in commuter numbers, SNCB/NMBS has cut the number of trains that will run on Friday.
Around 200 weekday services are set to be cancelled.
