Prison for anti-Semitic youths

21 October 2004

BRUSSELS – Two youths have been sentenced to six months in prison for making anti-semitic comments to their former teacher, Belgian daily Le Soir reported on Thursday.

The youths, identified only as Youssef  S. and Mourad J., allegedly made the remarks in November 2002 to David Berman, their teacher at the time at the Marcel Tricot school.

Belgium’s Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism, which helped bring the case, applauded the court’s action.
