It was the first time since at least 2000 that men outnumbered women in the ranks of the unemployed, according to the general director of the National Employment Office (RVA).
Some 432,920 people in Belgium were receiving benefits as “unemployed job-seekers” in April. Some 216,535 of these are men, compared to 216,385 women.
