Police release video footage of mp3 killers

19 April 2006

BRUSSELS — The public prosecution office released on Wednesday the video footage of the two suspects in the stabbing murder of a 17-year-old youth at Brussels Central last week.

People who recognise the suspects have been asked to contact police via phone on 0800 91 119. Tips can also be sent to [email protected].

The two suspects loitered in the train station for a short period and were captured on video for several minutes.

A security camera of a shop near Central Station also filmed the two suspects as they were fleeing the scene of the murder.

Only the images in which the culprits are recognisable were released. The footage of the stabbing was not made public.

Meanwhile, the photofit of the main suspect was made public by police on Tuesday.

The two suspects are aged 16-18, have dark hair and dark eyes.

Both the video footage and the photofit have been circulating among police specialised in youth crime, but with little result.

By releasing the images to the public, public prosecution authorities hope that the suspects will be identified.

The photofit was compiled based on statements from witnesses to the attack and the video footage recorded by Belgian rail NMBS-SNCB.
