Police intercept tonne of hashish

BRUSSELS – The federal police in Brussels confiscated almost a tonne of hashish on Sunday night. The drugs were hidden in a freight lorry that had come from Morocco. Authorities have arrested three people, the federal police announced on Wednesday. People have also been arrested in Morocco.

The police tracked down the gang thanks to information from France. The investigation took almost nine months and was conducted in cooperation with Moroccan police services.

In an intervention on Sunday night the federal police confiscated 927 kg of hashish. Three people were arrested and are being held by the examining magistrate in Brussels. The Moroccan police arrested a number of suspects on Tuesday in connection with the case.
