BRUSSELS – There have been problems once again with a Jetair plane, this time in Mexico. The tour operator says a bird hit the nose of the aircraft, making it impossible to leave Cancun. 314 passengers travelling back to Belgium from Cuba and Mexico were given shelter at hotels overnight.
A Jetair aeroplane was stranded in the Dominican Republic on 2 January this year when a rabbit got into an engine. About 150 Belgians waited in Brussels without any notification, only to see their holiday plans go up in smoke. The tour operator was harshly criticised, but made good by compensating the affected travellers generously.
Jetair is currently looking for a replacement craft to transport the 314 passengers stranded in Cancun back to Brussels as soon as possible.
The flight, with flight number JAF208, was scheduled to leave Varadero, stop over in Cancun, and arrive in Brussels at 5.30 a.m. this morning.
