BRUSSELS — A family tragedy took place in the East Flemish town of Temse on Thursday.

The victims are believed to be a woman, her former husband and their three children, newspaper ‘Het Nieuwsblad’ reported.

Public prosecution officials were conducting investigations at the scene on Thursday afternoon.

Local police visited the family for a routine inspection on Thursday.

But when no one answered the door, police officers entered the home via the back door.

The bodies of the five victims were then found on the top floor of the residence.

All windows and doors were taped shut and two barbeques had been turned on.

It is believed the victims died of asphyxiation.
