Open VLD: institutions for young offenders

In addition to the institutions Everberg and Florennes more should be invested in additional secure juvenile institutions.

Negotiator for the Open Vld and outgoing home affairs minister Patrick Dewael said this on TV programme “De Zevende Dag”. Dewael emphasised that his party will adhere to its demand that young offenders from the age of 14 should be put away in secure institutions.

“We will not compromise on this plan,” he replied to the question that the Walloon cdH party is ignoring this. “Society has the right to be protected,” the minister of the open VLD said. The Open Vld negotiator also pointed out that formation parties have agreed on 90 to 95 percent of the justice chapter.
