One in three under-38s prefer car-free life

Deloitte surveyed 23,000 people in 19 countries all over the world.

Belgian under-38s score higher than the average European. In the rest of Europe, only a quarter of the under-38s surveyed indicated that they prefer a car-free lifestyle.

According to these people, cars are too expensive when it comes to purchasing their vehicles and the maintenance required to keep them on the road.

“On top of that, they prefer to live in the city. This way, it’s easy for them to travel to work by foot or by public transport. They don’t have to waste their time on congested roads”, says Eric Desomer, manufacturing leader at Deloitte Belgium.
