However, in around 10% of cases, a child enters hospital with serious or even life-threatening injuries.

Doctor Patrick Van de Voorde of the Accident and Emergency Unit of Ghent University Hospital told VRT that such children don’t always get the best treatment.

Hospital doctors are often not well-trained to deal with seriously injured children.
