One in seven Belgians is a boozy worker

Research undertaken by human resources experts Securex among 1,000 Belgian workers revealed that 15% are drinking amounts of alcohol that can cause liver disease, cardiovascular problems, cancer, depression and accidents.

The results contrast with those recorded in 2010, when dangerous drinking among the workforce was down 5%. Three years on the downward trend has been reversed. The fall in 2010 is being attributed to the extension of the smoking ban in public places. Often drinking and alcohol consumption go hand in hand.
