Oldest Belgian dies

BRUSSELS – Belgium’s oldest citizen has died at the ripe old age of 109, it was reported on Thursday.

Flemish daily Het Laatste Nieuws said that Victoire Ricaille de Florenville died peacefully at an old people’s home.

Belgium’s most senior citizen was born on 6 May 1895.

She was only admitted to the old people’s home at the age of 107, following a fall.

Belgium’s oldest citizen is now Angele Van Meerbeek, who lives in Charleroi and is also 109.
