‘No mercy for small-time tax evaders’

‘No mercy for small-time tax evaders’
De Standaard

The amnesty will mark the termination of a policy of ongoing tax regularisation in Belgium. Initially, the government planned on allowing "small scale evaders" to pay only 15 per cent tax on previously undeclared funds, including undeclared inheritance. However, the Flemish newspaper has revealed that all tax dodgers will likely face a tax of 35 per cent, hitherto reserved for "major fraudsters".

The government is planning to collect €500m with the measure, which will be the subject of a bill to be prepared before Easter. The launch of the amnesty has been scheduled for the month of June.
