BRUSSELS – Belgium’s mobile telephone users have set a new record for sending text messages, it has been announced.
Between 8.00 pm on the evening of 31 December and 8.00 am on New Year’s day, Belgians sent a staggering total of 23.7 million ‘SMS’ messages.
The Proximus network had the lion’s share of the messages with 16 million.
Mobistar has 5.5 million, while Belgium’s third mobile telephone operator Base registered 2.2 million New Year messages.
