New bus connections to airport

21 May 2007

BRUSSELS – Public transport company De Lijn is making changes to two bus lines to improve the connection between the northwest Flemish periphery of Brussels and the airport.

Residents from Dilbeek and the Pajottenland area will soon be able to use a direct bus line to Brussels Airport and environs.

The new routes were presented in Jette in the presence of Flemish vice-minister-president Frank Vandenbroucke and Flemish minister for mobility Kathleen Van Brempt.

Existing lines 820 (Dilbeek – Jette – Vilvoorde – Zaventem) and 821 (Merchtem – Grimbergen – Vilvoorde – Zaventem) will be improved.

The improved bus service is part of De Lijn’s action plan entitled START, aimed at boosting economic activity and employment around the airport. De Lijn will kick off an information campaign in the next few weeks to inform potential travellers of the new bus routes.
