The organisation is also suspected of helping returning jihadi fighters.

The raids were carried out as part of an investigation centring on people from Belgium with plans to travel to Syria probably aiming to join a terrorist organisation.

Belgian prosecutors want to expose the working of the organisation that recruits Belgians to become jihadi fighters in Syria.

They have stressed today’s operation is not linked to the recent terrorist outrages in Verviers and Paris.
