BRUSSELS – A single mother in Wallonia has been arrested and charged with killing her four-year-old autistic son.
On Sunday morning, at about 11am, 35-year-old Vinciane Delsaut is believed to have stabbed to death her son Ramon at the family home, La Derniere Heure reported on Monday.
He was taken to Frameries Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Delsaut was arrested immediately.
Delsaut lived alone with her son in Rue Alfred Defuisseaux in Quaregnon where the pair moved three months ago.
Neighbours and friends told Mons magistrate court they thought it was unlikely the mother had planned the killing.
“She adored her little son,” said a close friend.
“Just a few days ago, she went shopping for clothes for him. We advised her to put her child in an institution, but she didn’t want to. She decided to look after him herself.”
